UK

  1. Not really, because like every other person they can take a plane or boat to somewhere else.
  2. I had preferred to live in London, because then I could go shopping every day
I have learned:

  • The capitals of the UK counties: Edinburgh, London, Cardiff, Belfast(and Dublin)
  • I have learned about some lakes like lock ness.
  • I have learned about some islands, like Shetlands islands.

English as a World Language

Checkpoints
1.      A language that is used for communication by to people who are not native speakers, is called a lingua franca.
2.      Because there is only 350 million people that speaks English as their first language and English is spoken by 1.2-1.5 billion people.
3.      Queen Elisabeth 1 started to build the British Empire.
4.      After ww1 and ww2  Britain was no longer the position as the world’s leading power
5.      To the language is developing in different directions. The spelling, pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary are developing differently all over the world.

Viewpoints
1.      We (Maria and I) think that it`s possible that English takes over the Norwegian language when the generation above us dies, because younger generations is exposed for English daily and getting better at it.

Comprehension
1.      The Romans left Britain 1500 years ago.
2.      English has shown some unique abilities to absorb, evolve, invade and steal words from other languages.

7.      The grammar, spelling and pronunciation
8.      Singlish is spoken in Singapore, hinglish is Hindi English and chinglish is Chinese English.

9.      Because English has so little to do with England these days, it might as well get a Chinese name. Also because there is a type of Chinese English as well.
